Back in March I filled each of the two big pots that flank our front steps with a white-flowered hellebore surrounded by purple and white violas.\u00a0 That serendipitous combination looked great for a full three months because spring was slow and cool. \u00a0 Now that the front pots have been refilled with Million Bells, the hellebores have moved to the shady front strip.\u00a0 The violas–sheared,\u00a0 repottted and fed–are filling a void in the equally shady rear garden.\u00a0 They may languish through the New Jersey summer like Victorian belles, but with luck they will revive in the Fall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
